Mobile Welding Services Across Sheffield & Yorkshire
At Starweld Engineering, we deliver ISO 9001 certified mobile welding services across Sheffield, Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and the surrounding areas. Whether it’s a small on-site repair or a large industrial project, our team of experienced, coded welders handle jobs in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and cast iron to the same workshop standards — just at your location.
Welding jobs often need to happen on-site: large fixed assemblies, heavy structural components, fixed plant, or items you simply can’t bring to a workshop. That’s where mobile welding earns its keep — we bring the equipment, the expertise, and the documented quality processes (through our parent company, Heaps, Arnold & Heaps Ltd) directly to you.

Materials We Weld On-Site
Mild Steel Welding
Strong, durable welds for general fabrication, structural repairs, plant maintenance, and on-site installation work. Full steel fabrication available from our Sheffield workshop where pre-fabricated parts are needed.
Stainless Steel Welding
Expert TIG and MIG welding for hygienic, corrosion-resistant finishes — suitable for food processing, pharmaceutical, marine and architectural applications. Sanitary finishes available where the application requires it.
Aluminium Welding
Precision TIG welding for aluminium repairs on-site — frames, structures, vehicle bodies, machinery and architectural metalwork. See our aluminium fabrication and welding service for the full capability and grades we cover.
Cast Iron Welding
For large fixed cast iron items that can’t be moved to a workshop, we offer mobile cast iron welding and repairs. Note that controlled pre-heat and slow cooling are harder to manage on-site than in the workshop, so for smaller items workshop welding usually gives a better result.
When Mobile Welding Makes Sense
Common situations where we get called out:
- Plant breakdown — a production line is down and welded structural or machinery repairs are needed urgently
- Structural welding on installed assemblies — railings, gantries, platforms, gates, fences that are already fixed in place
- Scheduled maintenance — planned welded repairs during a maintenance window, often outside normal hours
- Items too large to move — large fabrications, fixed tanks, vessels, structural steelwork
- Items too heavy or awkward to transport — castings, large machine bedways, mounted equipment
- Multi-site jobs — welding work needed across several locations as part of a single project
Our Mobile Welding Fleet & 24-Hour Emergency Service
Our fleet of modern service vehicles is equipped with generators, welders, plasma cutters, and grinding equipment — so we arrive ready to work, regardless of whether site power is available. We’re on call 24 hours a day for emergency welding callouts, and can provide on-site engineering services for planned maintenance procedures during shutdowns.
For combined mobile and workshop projects (e.g. on-site welding of CNC flame-cut or plasma-cut pre-fabricated parts), we can manage the full sequence — fabricate in the workshop, deliver, weld on-site.

What We Don’t Do: Mobile Vehicle Welding
To be straightforward about scope: we don’t undertake mobile vehicle welding — chassis welding on cars, vans, trailers or motorbikes. If that’s what you need, we’d recommend looking for a vehicle-specialist welder. Where we DO work on vehicle-related items is in our Sheffield workshop, including cracked alloy wheel repair and aluminium body component work.

Mobile Welding FAQ
Do you offer 24-hour emergency welding callouts?
Yes — we're on call 24 hours a day for emergency mobile welding callouts in Sheffield and the surrounding region. For plant breakdowns and urgent production-critical repairs, give us a ring on 0114 272 0283 and we'll get a welder to you as fast as possible.
What welding processes do you use on-site?
MIG, TIG and MMA (manual arc) welding — chosen to suit the material, the application and the site conditions. Our service vehicles carry generators and full kit, so we can work in locations without site power.
Do you supply hot work permits and risk assessments?
Yes — on-site welding is hot work and we provide method statements, risk assessments and the required documentation as part of the job. Site safety briefings and CSCS-equivalent compliance available where required.
How quickly can you respond to a callout?
For Sheffield and the immediate surrounding area, often within a few hours during working hours; same or next day for further afield. For non-urgent scheduled jobs, we'll agree a date that suits your operations.
Do you do mobile car or van welding?
No — we don't undertake mobile vehicle welding (chassis, sills, panels). For vehicle welding you'll want a vehicle-specialist welder. We do work on cracked alloy wheels and aluminium vehicle components in our Sheffield workshop.
